FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index at Over 1-Week High

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which measures shipping rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, climbed for the fourth consecutive session on Tuesday, gaining about 1% to reach 3,432 points, its highest level since September 14. The panamax index, reflecting rates for ships that typically carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 1.9% to 2,299 points. The capesize index, which tracks larger vessels that usually haul around 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal, advanced 0.9% to 5,892 points. Among the smaller vessel segments, the supramax index edged up 0.3% to 1,776 points.
