Taiwan’s industrial production increased by 23.47% year-on-year in August 2026, down slightly from a revised 23.95% rise in July, when growth reached a four-month high. This was the weakest annual expansion since May, as manufacturing output eased to 24.61% from 25.06% in the previous month, despite faster growth in key high-tech sectors, including electronic parts and components (21.68% vs. 20.9%) and computers, electronic and optical products (95.72% vs. 90.14%).
Overall output was dragged by steeper contractions in mining and quarrying (-9.34% vs. -3.29%) and water supply (-2.11% vs. -1.26%), while growth in electricity and gas supply edged down slightly (6.73% vs. 6.77%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.85% in August, slowing from a revised 3% in July and marking the smallest month-on-month increase since March.
