Eurozone Industrial Confidence Beats Expectations

The euro area industrial confidence indicator improved to -3.8 in September 2026, its least pessimistic reading since April 2023, up from an upwardly revised -5.0 in August and beating market expectations of -4.7. The increase was driven by more positive assessments of production trends and of both total and export order books, while inventories of finished products also rose. Looking ahead, firms remained optimistic about future production, and expectations for growth in selling prices strengthened. Employment assessments were unchanged.
