France’s registered unemployment fell by 61,300 to 3,081.7 thousand in August 2026, the largest monthly decline since April 2025, following a 21,500 increase in July. Unemployment benefit claims decreased across all age groups, with the steepest drop among those aged 25 to 49, down by 38,200, followed by those aged 50 and over, down by 13,900. Claims among those under 25 fell by 9,200. By gender, unemployment among women declined by 32,000, while claims among men were down by 29,300.
