FX.co ★ Austria Jobless Rate Edges Up to 7.1%

Austria’s unemployment rate in September 2026 inched up to 7.1%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared with the same month a year earlier. The total number of unemployed persons rose by 7,444 year-on-year, reaching 306,624. Within this total, unemployment among women climbed 6.0% to 147,168, while unemployment among men and other genders declined by 0.6% to 159,456. When participants in training programs are included, the combined figure for unemployed individuals and those in training stood at 381,159, representing a 1.6% increase from a year earlier. For women, this combined number grew by 5.3%, whereas for men and other genders it fell by 1.8%. Long-term unemployment also remained high: the number of people jobless for more than 12 months rose 22.1% to 56,432.
