Indonesian Shares Rebound

Indonesian equities climbed 43 points, or 0.7%, to 5,968 in Wednesday morning trade, snapping a two-session losing streak. Bargain hunting emerged after the market hit a three-month low, while U.S. stock futures firmed ahead of key inflation data due later in the day.

The IMF lifted its 2026 GDP growth forecast for Indonesia to 5.1% from 5.0%, citing continued efforts to boost household purchasing power and higher government spending. However, upside in the market was restrained by caution ahead of September trade figures from China, Indonesia’s main trading partner.

In China, producer prices in September rose at the fastest pace in more than four years as higher fuel costs pushed up business expenses. Consumer inflation also picked up, reaching a three-month high of 0.9%, though it came in slightly below the 1% consensus.

Gains in Jakarta were broad-based, with all sectors contributing to the advance, led by industrials, transportation, property, and infrastructure. Notable early movers included Mitra Adiperkasa (up 4.2%), Medco Energi (3.4%), Bukit Asam (2.8%), and Bank Central Asia (1.7%).
