Frankfurt’s DAX 40 inched higher on Wednesday as the index attempted to claw back losses from the previous session amid a busy corporate earnings season. Sentiment remained cautious, however, as rising oil prices stoked fears of renewed inflationary pressures and investors awaited September US inflation data, keeping markets on edge. Geopolitical developments were also under close scrutiny.
On the upside, BMW, Adidas, Henkel, Bayer, Vonovia, and Rheinmetall were among the strongest performers, each advancing more than 3%. At the other end of the index, Infineon Technologies slid 2.4%, making it the worst performer. It was followed by Zalando (-1.7%), Münchener Rück (-0.8%), Airbus (-0.6%), and SAP (-0.5%).
