Danish Consumer Morale Falls to 5-Month Low

Denmark’s consumer confidence index fell to -17.2 in October 2026 from -13.7 in September, moving below the six‑month average of -15.7 and reaching its lowest level since May, as all subcomponents weakened.

Views on the country’s economic situation deteriorated, both for the present (-27.8 vs -22.5) and for the coming year (-26.1 vs -19.2). Evaluations of households’ own finances also worsened, covering both the past 12 months (-11.1 vs -8.6) and the next 12 months (-5.9 vs -3.7). At the same time, consumers became more reluctant to make major purchases, with that indicator turning more pessimistic (-15.2 vs -14.3).

Among indicators not included in the headline confidence measure, perceptions of current price growth strengthened (34 vs 28), and inflation expectations for the next 12 months also rose (33.5 vs 31.9). In addition, concerns about unemployment over the year ahead increased (22 vs 19.2).
