Slovenia Consumer Morale Worsens in October

Slovenia’s consumer confidence indicator declined by 4 percentage points in October 2026, falling to -27 from -23 in September and reaching its lowest level since May 2026. The downturn in sentiment was driven primarily by more pessimistic views on the general economic situation, both for the next 12 months (-38 vs -29 in September) and the past 12 months (-40 vs -38).

Households also reported a slightly worse assessment of their own financial situation over the past year (-21 vs -20) and more negative expectations for the year ahead (-17 vs -14). In addition, willingness to make major purchases weakened, both at present (-28 vs -23) and over the next 12 months (-33 vs -31), while expectations regarding the ability to save in the year ahead deteriorated (-21 vs -14).

Among other indicators, perceived price increases over the past 12 months strengthened, with that index rising to 71 from 68, and price expectations for the next 12 months also edged up to 63 from 61. At the same time, concerns about unemployment in the year ahead grew (20 vs 17), and uncertainty regarding household finances moved into positive territory, increasing to 4 from -4.
