Denmark’s manufacturing confidence index rose to 102.7 in October 2026, up from 100.5 in September. This latest reading moved further above the long‑term average of 100 and marked the highest level since April 2025. The improvement was driven by stronger production expectations, which increased to 22 from 15, even as employment expectations softened, slipping to 2 from 5.
By contrast, the broader business confidence index—which covers industry, construction, services and retail—declined to 104.5 from 107.1. Construction sentiment weakened slightly, with its indicator edging down to 100.6 from 101.5. Confidence in the services sector also deteriorated, with the corresponding index falling to 104.9 from 107.3, as revenue expectations decreased to 8 from 12 and employment expectations eased to 1 from 4.
Retail confidence recorded the steepest setback. The retail indicator dropped sharply to 103.7 from 114.8. While revenue expectations in retail remained relatively robust at 29, employment expectations turned negative, falling to -3 from 9.
