Eurozone Services Momentum Cools as HCOB PMI Eases to 51.7 in October

The expansion of the eurozone’s services sector softened in October, as the HCOB Eurozone Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) edged down to 51.7. This marks a slowdown from September 2026, when the index stood at 53.0, according to data updated on 23 October 2026.

While the October reading remains above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction, the decline points to moderating growth across the bloc’s services economy. The loss of momentum may signal that demand conditions are becoming more restrained after a firmer performance in September.

Investors and policymakers will be closely monitoring upcoming releases to assess whether October’s weakening is a temporary pause or the start of a more persistent cooling in eurozone services activity.
