Hungary’s Producer Price Inflation Accelerates to 6.9% YoY in September

Hungary’s producer price index (PPI) rose 6.9% year-over-year in September 2026, up from 4.8% in August, according to data updated on 29 October 2026. The pickup in factory-gate inflation marks a notable acceleration in cost pressures at the producer level.

Both readings are based on year-over-year comparisons, with the current figure reflecting the change in September 2026 relative to September 2025, and the previous reading showing August 2026 against August 2025. The sharper annual increase in September suggests that underlying price pressures in Hungary’s industrial sector have strengthened compared with late summer.

While PPI does not directly measure consumer inflation, sustained increases in producer prices can filter through to retail prices over time, potentially complicating the broader inflation outlook and policy considerations in the months ahead.
