Cyprus’ industrial production fell by 1.3% year-on-year in August 2026, following a 1.5% increase in July. The downturn was mainly driven by a 2.5% contraction in manufacturing output (after a 1.5% rise in July), with notable declines in machinery, motor vehicles and other transport equipment (-12.8% vs. -6.8%), refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products (-7.1% vs. -2.9%), and other non-metallic mineral products (-4.8% vs. 6.0%). Growth in water supply and materials recovery also eased, slowing to 5.7% from 8.2%. By contrast, mining and quarrying output expanded 11.0%, up from 6.0% in July, while electricity supply inched up 0.1% after a 1.1% drop in the previous month. Over the January–August period, industrial production was still up 1.2% compared with the same period a year earlier.
