Italy’s consumer confidence index slipped to 90.3 in October 2026 from 91.2 in September, reaching its lowest level since November 2022. The figure was broadly in line with market expectations of 90.9. According to the national statistics agency, the overall decline mainly reflected a more negative assessment of the country’s economic outlook, with that sub-index dropping to 82.9 from 88.0, rising unemployment expectations, and a reduced willingness to purchase durable goods under current conditions. Current sentiment weakened to 88.7 from 90.4. By contrast, personal sentiment edged up to 93.0 from 92.4, while expectations for the future were unchanged at 92.3.
