Turkey’s Economic Confidence Index declined to 97.3 in October 2026 from 101.3 in September, slipping below the 100-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism for the first time in three months and marking its lowest level since May. The downturn was driven primarily by a sharp deterioration in consumer confidence, which dropped 7.7% to 84.8, a nine-month low. Services sector confidence also weakened, falling 2.4% to 109.2, its lowest reading in five months, while real sector (manufacturing) confidence eased 1.4% to 101.1, the lowest level since May. In contrast, retail trade confidence increased 1.1% to 112.5, its highest level in four months, and construction confidence inched up 0.4% to 83.3, a three-month high.
