French Producer Prices Accelerate to 6.8% in September, Marking Sharp Yearly Gain

France’s Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 6.80% year-over-year in September 2026, accelerating from a 4.90% increase recorded in August 2026, according to data updated on 30 October 2026.

The figures, which compare price changes for each month to the same month a year earlier, show a notable pickup in cost pressures at the producer level. In August, producer prices were already 4.90% higher than in August of the previous year; by September, that annual increase had widened to 6.80%, signaling a stronger rise in input and output prices across French industry.

The widening gap between August and September readings may draw closer attention from businesses and policymakers, as higher producer prices can feed through to consumer inflation and impact corporate margins, pricing strategies, and investment decisions.
