Mexico’s GDP Growth Cools to 0.9% in Q3 2026, Down from 1.4% in Previous Quarter

Mexico’s economic momentum slowed in the third quarter of 2026, with gross domestic product (GDP) expanding by 0.9% quarter-over-quarter, down from a 1.4% increase recorded in the second quarter of 2026. The latest data, updated on 30 October 2026, indicate a moderation in short-term growth compared with earlier in the year.

The figures are based on quarter-over-quarter comparisons, where the current reading reflects the change in output from the second to the third quarter of 2026, while the previous figure measured growth from the first to the second quarter. The deceleration suggests that, although the Mexican economy continues to grow, the pace has eased as the year has progressed.

Investors and policymakers will now be watching subsequent releases closely to determine whether the weaker Q3 expansion marks the beginning of a more prolonged slowdown or a temporary pause following stronger performance earlier in the year.
