India’s BSE Sensex extended its advance on Tuesday, closing up roughly 1.6% at 76,918—its highest level since early September and marking a fourth consecutive session of gains. Robust corporate earnings and sustained foreign portfolio inflows helped counterbalance worries over escalating geopolitical tensions and rising crude oil prices. At the same time, the US midterm elections remained in focus, with investors assessing their potential impact on fiscal policy, trade dynamics, and geopolitical risks related to Iran. Sectoral performance was broadly positive. FMCG stocks led the rally, driven by a 4.2% jump in Hindustan Unilever after Jefferies and Nomura reiterated their Buy ratings on the back of a strong quarterly showing. ITC also climbed 2.76%.
