Sensex Finishes on Higher Note

India’s BSE Sensex closed 0.5% higher at 77,301 on Wednesday, its strongest finish since late August and its fifth consecutive session of gains. Sentiment was supported by improving foreign fund inflows, easing crude oil prices, and upbeat corporate earnings. Investor focus also turned to the US midterm elections, where a Democratic victory could pose challenges to President Trump’s policy agenda. For India, the outcome comes at a delicate stage, with trade negotiations ongoing and visa restrictions still a key concern.

Among individual stocks, Bharat Electronics (BEL) led the advance, rising 4.6% after the company reaffirmed its FY27 guidance, including annual revenue growth of 15%–20% and EBITDA margins of around 28%. Titan also posted strong gains, climbing 4.3%. In contrast, heavyweight technology counters such as TCS (-2.7%), HCL Technologies (-2.2%), and Infosys (-1.7%) came under pressure, as investors booked profits amid persistent worries about global tech demand.
