S&P and Nasdaq Set to Rebound

S&P 500 futures rose 0.2% and Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 1.5% on Friday, while Dow Jones futures dropped about 500 points. The moves followed a sharp sell-off in the previous session—the market’s worst single-day decline since April 2025—which pushed the Nasdaq into correction territory.

Sentiment was pressured by worries that a Democratic sweep in Congress could usher in stricter regulation of the AI industry and dampen investment in the sector. That prospect spurred investors to rotate out of technology and AI-linked stocks, fueling a broader risk-off tone across markets.

Still, dip-buying emerged on Friday and the sell-off paused, especially among major chipmakers. Nvidia advanced 4.1%, Broadcom added 4.6%, Micron Technology jumped 8.9% and AMD gained 7.6%, while Tesla rose 1.2%.

Investors were also awaiting the US jobs report for fresh signals on labour market conditions. For the week, the S&P 500 is down nearly 3%, the Dow is off 0.5% and the Nasdaq has fallen about 4.4%.
