US Secretary of State John Kerry visited Russia at the request of the White House, with ending the Syrian conflict and countering terrorism dominating the agenda.

The Russian Foreign Ministry explained that cooperating with the US, Russia will continue to defend its interests. Russia’s goal is to strengthen its own and international security. Russia has been waiting for a long time for John Kerry’s comments on the US actions in Syria.

At the beginning of the meeting, the politicians expressed their opinions on the ISIS terrorists. They agreed that Islamic State represents grave international threat. John Kerry said that they failed to open dialogue with the terrorists. He also emphasized that these people threaten not only civilians, but also culture and history.

At the same time, Sergey Lavrov pointed to the fact that the fight against terrorists in Syria is not a final stage as there are a lot of representatives of the group in Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen.

Sergey Lavrov and John Kerry are likely to have another meeting next week. Russia's Foreign Minister is supposed to go to New York to discuss the Syrian issues.
