USDJPY Forex Market Analysis USDJPY Approaches 160.00 as Buyers Increase Pressure USDJPY is trading around 159.79 on 1 September 2026, placing the pair extremely close to the psychologically important 160.00 level. The latest price position represents a meaningful change from the lower levels seen during previous corrective phases. Buyers have managed to recover the lost ground and are now challenging an area where strong resistance and profit-taking can emerge. The movement toward 159.79 indicates that bullish momentum remains active on the shorter-term chart. However, the location of price is more important than the size of the recent rise. When a currency pair approaches a major round number such as 160.00, liquidity tends to increase and both buyers and sellers may become more aggressive. Therefore, a temporary rejection from this region would not automatically mean that the broader bullish structure has ended. The immediate support zone is around 159.40–159.60, while 159.00 remains the more important short-term pivot. If USDJPY continues to hold above these areas, buyers can maintain pressure toward 160.00. A clean breakout above 160.00 would be technically significant because it would show that buyers have absorbed selling pressure around the psychological barrier. Above 160.00, the next upside zones can be considered around 160.30–160.50, followed by 160.80–161.00 if momentum expands substantially. However, traders should remain careful about buying directly into resistance. A sharp rejection from 160.00 followed by a break below 159.40 could create a corrective move toward 159.00 or even 158.50. The overall structure therefore remains bullish, but highly sensitive to the 160.00 resistance zone. D1 Time Frame Signals a Test of the Major Upper Boundary The D1 timeframe presents a constructive picture because USDJPY remains above its important medium-term support areas and has returned to the upper portion of its recent trading structure. The current price of 159.79 places the pair only a short distance below 160.00, making the daily closing behavior particularly important. A daily close above 160.00 would provide stronger evidence that the previous resistance has been overcome. Such confirmation could encourage additional bullish participation and potentially move the market toward 160.30–160.50. If the daily structure remains strong above that region, 160.80–161.00 could eventually become relevant. The first meaningful daily support is now around 159.20–159.50. This area can act as a defensive zone for buyers during any normal retracement. A deeper support area exists around 158.70–159.00, while 158.30–158.50 remains a more significant structural boundary. As long as the D1 chart continues to produce higher lows above these support regions, the medium-term bullish structure remains intact. A daily close below 158.30, however, would substantially weaken the current trend and could shift attention toward 157.70–158.00. The candle formation around 160.00 deserves particular attention. A strong daily candle closing close to its high above 160.00 would demonstrate that buyers have achieved genuine acceptance at higher prices. In contrast, a long upper wick followed by a bearish daily close would indicate strong supply near the round number. Therefore, the D1 outlook is bullish but waiting for confirmation. The market has reached the upper boundary of an important zone, and the next daily close could provide a much clearer directional signal.
